The one they'll never let go of.
Every baby eventually picks a favourite, and once they've chosen, that's it — you're committed. It comes to the childminder. It comes on holiday. It gets left in a café once and causes a family emergency.
Tim is an extremely strong candidate. He's ultra-soft, flat, light and covered in interesting things to hold, which is precisely the combination that turns a soft toy into the soft toy.
Made for holding on to
The flat shape is the clever bit. A newborn can't grip a chunky toy, but they can hold on to something thin and soft — which means Tim works from the very first weeks, long before a bulkier teddy would.
He's made from plush looped fabric on one side and a silky jungle print on the other, so there's a lovely contrast between soft and smooth. Tuck him in a pram, drape him over a car seat or hand him over at bedtime; he settles easily into whatever the routine needs.
Plenty to keep little hands busy
Tim isn't just for cuddling. He comes with three ribbons, three cords and a teething ring, all sewn in for exploring — and babies are drawn to fiddly bits like nothing else.
Every tug on a ribbon and pull on a cord is quiet practice in grip strength, finger control and hand-eye coordination. The teething ring earns its place too, arriving right on time for the stage when everything goes straight in the mouth.
Why comforters matter
A comforter isn't just a toy — it's a familiar, soft, always-the-same thing to hold on to when everything else is new. That's genuinely useful at bedtime, at nursery drop-off, in the car, and on the long list of occasions when a baby needs reassuring.
Introduce him early and let him become part of the wind-down routine, and before long the sight of Tim starts doing some of the settling all on its own.

Looking after Tim
Hand wash in cold water, no bleach, and leave him to air dry naturally. A word of hard-won advice from experienced parents: if he becomes The Chosen One, buy a spare. You'll thank yourself at 9pm one day.
