🧩 Why a silicone puzzle

Most first puzzles are wood, which is lovely until a piece is thrown, chewed or dropped in yoghurt. Silicone pieces are soft to squeeze, quiet when they land, and go straight in the dishwasher with the bowls — board and all. That makes this the puzzle for the high chair, the café table and the car — places a wooden puzzle does not really belong.

Soft pieces are also more forgiving to fit. A silicone shape can be squished a little into its space, so a toddler who has nearly got it gets the satisfaction of finishing rather than giving up. The board itself is firmer, so it holds its shape and the spaces stay clear to aim at.

👶 How it grows with them

At eighteen months it starts with lifting shapes out and putting them back anywhere. Matching each shape to its own space comes next — and the first time the star goes in the star-shaped hole is a proper moment. Older toddlers start naming the shapes and colours, sorting them into groups and counting them, so the same puzzle stays useful well past the first time it is mastered.

This puzzle has been tested by an independent laboratory as a finished toy, not just as material — for small parts that could come away on a toy meant for a child under three, for sharp edges and points, for flammability, and for lead, other heavy metals and phthalates. It passed on every count.

Separately, the silicone itself was tested by CTI, an accredited laboratory, with nothing detected in migration of 19 elements under EN 71-3, phthalates, 553 PFAS, 15 PAHs, or any of the 247 REACH substances of very high concern. ⚠️ Worth knowing before you buy

• Twelve loose pieces. Soft pieces are easy to lose under the sofa. Worth a quick count when it is tidied away.
• Silicone picks up fluff. It is slightly grippy, which is what makes the pieces easy to hold, and the same property means they collect lint and crumbs. A rinse sorts it.
