🐑 Why the muslin is the clever part

The lamb is knitted and slightly textured. The cloth is muslin — thin, cool, smooth, and the fabric babies the world over end up rubbing against their face. Having both attached means a baby who has not yet decided what they like has two things to try, and whichever one wins, it is already in their hand.

The cloth comes out of the pocket, which also makes it the part you can slip into a bag on its own when you do not want to take the whole lamb.

🤚 Small, flat and light — which is the point

At 15 x 9cm this is deliberately tiny. A newborn cannot hold a large soft toy; they can hold a small flat one against them during a feed. This is a first comforter rather than a cuddly toy, and the size is what makes it work from week one rather than from four months.

❓ Frequently asked questions

Can it go in the cot?
Not for unsupervised sleep. Safer sleep guidance is to keep the cot clear, so a comforter is for cuddles, feeds and pram time while you are there. This is worth saying plainly, because a comforter rather invites the question.

How do I wash it?
Hand wash at 30 degrees and dry naturally. Comforters get the worst of everything, so if you can buy two, do — one can be drying while the other is on duty.

Does the cloth come out?
Yes, it lifts out of the pocket and goes back in. Handy, because the cloth on its own is the smallest possible thing to put in a changing bag.

Is it too small?

Is it a good gift?
