Mouse with Cuddle Cloth Comforter

Mouse with Cuddle Cloth — the neutral one, with a muslin in its pocket

A small knitted mouse in grey and white with a mustard striped top, 15cm tall, and a muslin cuddle cloth folded into a pocket on the front. Two quite different fabrics in one object, which is more useful for a newborn than it sounds.

🐭 Why the muslin is the clever part

The mouse is knitted and slightly textured. The cloth is muslin — thin, cool, smooth, and the fabric babies the world over end up rubbing against their face. Having both attached means a baby who has not yet decided what they like has two things to try, and whichever one wins, it is already in their hand.

The cloth comes out of the pocket, which also makes it the part you can slip into a bag on its own when you do not want to take the whole mouse.

🎨 Grey and mustard, which suits everyone

This is the more neutral of the two in the range, and that matters when you are buying for someone else's baby. Grey knit and a mustard stripe sit happily in any nursery and do not assume anything about the child, which is not true of the pink-striped lamb.

🤚 Small, flat and light — which is the point

At 15 x 9cm this is deliberately tiny. A newborn cannot hold a large soft toy; they can hold a small flat one against them during a feed. This is a first comforter rather than a cuddly toy, and the size is what makes it work from week one rather than from four months.

What we like about it

• Two fabrics in one object — knitted mouse, muslin cloth
• The cloth comes out of the pocket, so it can travel on its own
• Grey and mustard — the more neutral of the two characters
• Small, flat and light at 15 x 9cm, so it suits a baby from the first week
• Certified recycled content, to RCS 100
• No batteries and no sound at all

❓ Frequently asked questions

Can it go in the cot?
Not for unsupervised sleep. Safer sleep guidance is to keep the cot clear, so a comforter is for cuddles, feeds and pram time while you are there. Worth saying plainly, because a comforter rather invites the question.

How do I wash it?
Hand wash at 30 degrees and dry naturally. Comforters get the worst of everything, so if you can buy two, do — one can be drying while the other is on duty.

Does the cloth come out?
Yes, it lifts out of the pocket and goes back in. Handy, because the cloth on its own is the smallest possible thing to put in a changing bag.

Is it too small?
It is small on purpose. If you want something with more to it, our Cream Bunny comforter is 25cm with pom poms at the corners, and Tim the Tiger adds ribbons and a teething ring.

Is it a good gift?
One of the better small ones, and the safest of the pair when you do not know the family — grey and mustard assume nothing. Useful in week one rather than in six months.

🐑 Mouse or lamb?

Jumini do this one in two characters. They are the same size, the same construction and the same muslin cloth — so it genuinely comes down to the animal and the colour:

• Mouse — this one. Grey and white knit with a mustard striped top. The more neutral of the two.
• Lamb — cream knit with a pink striped top.

Safety information

Adult supervision recommended. Remove from the cot when your little one is sleeping unsupervised, in line with safer sleep guidance. Inspect the seams, the pocket and the cloth regularly and stop using it if anything is coming loose.
