Sensory Snuggable Cuddly Apple

Sensory Snuggable Cuddly Apple — the smallest and roundest of the three

A plush apple from the Squish and Snugg range: 28 x 26cm, with a smiley face, ribbon tags to pull, two contrasting legs to grab and a different texture wherever small hands land.

The most compact of the three cuddly fruits, and the most evenly shaped.

🍎 Round, and sized to be held

At 28 x 26 x 12cm the apple is the smallest of the three and almost as wide as it is tall. That evenness is the point: there is no broad side to wrestle with and no long end to drag, so it is the simplest of the three for a baby to pick up whichever way round they find it.

It is also the one that reads as a toy rather than a cushion, which is why it tends to get chosen for babies who are just starting to carry things from room to room.

🦓 One leg is striped, and that is on purpose

Each of these has two different legs: one in the toy's own colour, the other in black and white stripes. Newborn vision is drawn to contrast long before it is drawn to colour, so the striped leg is usually the part a very young baby fixes on — and, once they start reaching, the part they go for first. Two legs that feel and look different also give them something to compare, which is the whole point of a sensory toy.

✋ What's on it

• Two long legs to grab, one in apple red and one in black and white stripes
• Ribbon tags for pulling — very often the bit babies go for first
• Textured areas to find, so no two handfuls feel the same
• A smiley face, which does more for a baby than any pattern
• The most compact of the three at 28 x 26 x 12cm

❓ Frequently asked questions

What age is it for?
From birth. The face and the striped leg work from day one; the grabbing and carrying start properly from around three or four months.

Is it a cushion or a toy?
A toy. It is light and soft rather than firm, so it is for holding and cuddling rather than propping anything up.

How do I clean it?
Surface wash only — a damp cloth and left to dry naturally. No machine and no soaking.

How does it compare to the other cuddly fruits?
It is the smallest. The watermelon is the biggest armful at 33 x 25cm, and the avocado is nearly as tall but much slimmer, which makes it the easiest to carry.

Is there a smaller version?
The On The Go apple is a much smaller clip-on for a pram or car seat, with a rattle and a teether in it. This is the full-size cuddle.

Does it make a good gift?
A lovely one, and a little less expected than another teddy.

🧺 Which cuddly fruit?

All three have the ribbon tags, the two contrasting legs, the textured areas and the smiley face. They differ on size and shape:

• Apple — this one. 28 x 26 x 12cm, the smallest and the most evenly round.
• Watermelon — 33 x 25 x 11cm, the biggest of the three and the broadest across, so the most to cuddle.
• Avocado — 32 x 17 x 14cm, nearly as tall but the slimmest, and the easiest for small arms to get round.

If you would rather have something far smaller that clips onto a pram, the same three fruits come as On The Go apple, avocado and watermelon.

Safety information
