From birth. Newborns get the rattle and the patterns; the book comes into its own once they're grabbing and turning, from around six months.

Does the book really come off?
Yes — it's on a Velcro strap, so it detaches for independent play and goes back on when you want one thing rather than two.

How does it compare to the plain fox?
It's considerably bigger — 36cm against 25cm — and it has a rattle inside, which the plain fox doesn't. The plain one is the better choice if you want something small enough to live in a bag.

Does it make a good gift?
