Dog toy on Christmas tree

Stocking Fillers for Babies and Toddlers, All Under £10

A stocking for a baby is a bit of a puzzle. It needs small things, and small things usually aren't safe for babies. Fill it with the usual chocolate coins, bath bombs and tiny plastic novelties and most of it will have to be taken straight back out again.

So we've picked a list that works. Every item here is rated suitable from birth or from 6 months, made from food-grade silicone or soft fabric, and costs under £10. Most are under £6, so you can fill a stocking without spending a fortune, and every one of them will actually get used.

How we chose them

  • Under £10 each. Most are £6 or less.
  • Right for babies. Each is rated from birth or from 6 months on its product page.
  • Safe to chew. Food-grade silicone or soft fabric, because it's all going in the mouth.
  • Useful after Christmas. Teethers, cups and cutlery that earn their place every day.

👶 From birth

Baby Flash Cards, £5

Twenty wipe-clean cards with high-contrast patterns that start in black and white for new eyes and move on to colour as your baby grows. They're flat, light and fit any stocking. Hold one 20 to 30cm from your baby's face during tummy time. More in our flash cards guide.

Teddy Bear Baby Rattle, £5

A soft plush stick rattle, light and easy for tiny hands to hold, with a gentle sound. One of the first toys a baby can shake for themselves. Our guide on when babies can hold a rattle explains the stages.

Silicone and Beech Wood Bunny Teether, £6

Soft food-grade silicone and smooth beech wood in one bunny-shaped teether, so there are two textures for sore gums. It's about 10.5cm tall, just right for small hands. Wash it in warm soapy water and leave it to air dry.

Silicone Mobile Phone Toy, £5

For the baby who only ever wants yours. Every button is a little popper to press, it doubles as a soft teether, and it's food-grade silicone. Our post on why poppers are brilliant explains why babies love pressing them.

Silicone Dinosaur Stacking Toy, £4

Six soft silicone pieces that fit together into a dinosaur. Babies chew and pull it apart; toddlers learn to put it back together. At £4 it's the best-value stocking filler on the list.

Angus the Cavapoo teether, £8

Designed by us, and based on our own family dog. Angus is soft food-grade silicone with different textures for gums, and he can go in the dishwasher. A stocking filler that tends to become a favourite. More in our teething guide.

🥄 From 6 months

Silicone Spinner, £5

A spinner with a suction base that sticks to a highchair tray or the side of the bath and spins with the slightest touch. It has two poppers to press and doubles as a teether. Brilliant for keeping a baby busy while dinner's being made.

Silicone Toy Pick Up Truck, £6

A soft silicone truck with wheels that roll. It's a chew toy now and a push-along by their first birthday. Soft enough to chew, tough enough to throw.

Silicone Fork and Spoon, £2

Soft silicone cutlery that's gentle on gums and easy for small hands to grip. Perfect for a baby who's just started on solid food, and the cheapest thing on the list. It's dishwasher safe and comes in 3 colours.

Free-Flow Silicone Sippy Cup, £4.50

A 150ml silicone cup with an open three-hole spout and no valve, so your baby learns to sip rather than suck. That's the kind the NHS recommends for first cups. Our sippy cups guide explains why.

Silicone Waterproof Baby Bib, £3.50

A waterproof silicone bib with an adjustable strap. Wipe it clean at the table or pop it in the dishwasher. Not the most exciting present, but every parent of a weaning baby will be glad of another one. Our bibs guide compares silicone and muslin.

Three ready-made stockings

Each comes in just under £25. Add one more item from the list at £4 or more, and the order qualifies for free delivery.

Stocking What's in it Total

⚠️ Worth knowing before you fill the stocking

  • Keep the wrapping away from the baby. Paper, ribbon, tags and tissue all end up in mouths.
  • Watch out for older siblings' stockings. Small parts from their presents are the bigger risk on Christmas morning. Check the age on each product page.
  • Silicone attracts fluff. A quick rinse sorts it.
  • Check teethers now and then. Retire anything that's split or torn once teeth arrive.
