Silicone Stacking Cups β€” seven cups for the floor, the table and the bath

Seven soft silicone cups that nest inside each other down to 8cm, or stack upside down into a tower 23.5cm tall using the docking slots on each one. Every cup has a different shaped hole in its base, so in the bath they pour, sprinkle and drain. Food-grade platinum silicone, BPA and latex free, dishwasher safe. Suitable from birth. Of our six silicone stackers this is the tallest tower and the only one made for water.

πŸ› The bath one β€” and why it will not go mouldy

Most bath toys that cause trouble are the squeezy ones with a small hole: water gets in, cannot get out, and the inside turns black. These cups are open. Water goes in the top and straight out through the base, nothing is sealed, and every surface can be seen, rinsed and dried. Stand them upside down after the bath and they are dry by morning.

The shaped holes are what make them good in water rather than just tolerable in it. Each cup lets water through differently, so filling one and lifting it becomes a small experiment β€” fast, slow, one stream, a shower. It is cause and effect in its plainest form, and it buys a few calm minutes at hair-washing time. Our guide to mould-free bath toys explains which designs to avoid and why.

🧱 Two ways to stack

The right way up, the cups nest from largest to smallest β€” which only works in size order, so it gently teaches big and small. Turned over, the docking slots let them sit on one another to build a tower 23.5cm tall, taller than any of our other silicone stackers and much more satisfying to knock down. Nesting tends to click first; a tall, steady tower comes nearer two.

πŸ‘Ά From birth, in stages

Rated from birth, and honest about it. In the early months a cup is something to look at and, from around three or four months, the smallest is easy to hold. From six months everything is chewed, and soft silicone with no hard edges is what you want in a mouth. Then come filling and tipping, knocking towers over, nesting, and finally building β€” the cups are useful at every one of those stages, which is why they last.

πŸ”¬ What we have had tested

Our silicone teething and stacking toys have been tested by an independent laboratory as finished toys rather than just as material β€” for small parts that could come away on a toy meant for a child under three, for sharp edges and points, for flammability, and for lead, other heavy metals and phthalates. They passed on every count.

Separately, the solid silicone itself was tested by CTI, an accredited laboratory, with nothing detected in migration of 19 elements under EN 71-3, phthalates, 553 PFAS, 15 PAHs, or any of the 247 REACH substances of very high concern. The toy report is published on our silicone information page, so you can see exactly which toys were in it rather than taking our summary on trust.

⚠️ Worth knowing before you buy

  • Silicone picks up fluff. It is slightly grippy, which is what makes it easy for small hands to hold, and the same property means it collects lint, pet hair and crumbs when dropped on a rug. A rinse under the tap sorts it β€” and these spend half their life in water anyway.
  • It chews well but it is not a teether. Soft and fine to mouth, but not shaped to reach back gums. Our teethers are the right tool for real teething trouble.
  • Dry them after the bath. Open cups dry easily, but left stacked and wet in a corner of the bath anything can grow a film. Upside down on the side is all it takes.

❓ Frequently asked questions

Will they pick up fluff and hair?
Yes β€” all silicone does. The slight grip that makes them easy to hold also catches lint. A rinse clears it, and in the bath it is never an issue.

Will they go mouldy like other bath toys?
Not in the way squeezy toys do. Mould needs trapped water, and these have nowhere to trap it β€” open at the top, holes in the base, every surface visible. Rinse and stand them upside down to dry.

Can they go in the dishwasher?
Yes, or warm soapy water. Silicone is non-porous, so nothing soaks in.

Do they stay stacked?
The docking slots hold each cup on the one below, which is what lets them reach 23.5cm. A determined toddler will still knock them down, which is half the fun.

Are they useful away from the bath?
Very. Nesting, towers, filling with blocks or pasta at the table, sand in summer. Bath play is the thing the others cannot do, not the only thing these can.

Do they make a good gift?
A very practical one β€” useful from birth to two and beyond, and bath toys that do not go mouldy are something parents notice.

🧩 Which silicone stacker?

Six, all from birth, all the same soft silicone. This one first, then the other five easiest to hardest by what your child has to work out to put them back together:

  • Stacking Cups β€” this one. 7 cups, 8cm nested and 23.5cm as a tower, with shaped holes in the bases. The tallest, and the bath one.
  • Rainbow β€” 7 arches, 14 x 7.5cm. No wrong answer. The earliest and most open-ended.
  • Flower β€” 6 graduated sections, 12.5cm tall. Only sits properly widest-to-narrowest, so it corrects itself.
  • Flying Saucer β€” 8.6 x 7.6cm, with a pop-it layer to press. The smallest of the six.
  • Car β€” 8 x 5.2 x 6.2cm. Layers that stack back into a car, for a child who likes vehicles.
  • Dinosaur β€” 6 pieces, 13 x 12 x 4cm. Only one arrangement makes the dinosaur. The hardest.

If you would rather wood, our Stacking Kitten and Monkey Family Stacker start at 12 months β€” though neither belongs in the bath. Our guide to the best stacking toys by age covers wooden and silicone side by side.

Safety information

For supervised play, and never leave a child alone in the bath. Check the cups before each use and stop using them if the silicone splits or tears. Keep away from sharp objects and naked flame.
