🪵 Why raised pieces

Flat puzzle pieces are hard for a one-year-old to pick up — fingers slide over them. Raised pieces stand proud of the board, so a small hand can close round them, lift them out and, with practice, put them back. That makes a raised puzzle one of the best first steps from peg puzzles towards real jigsaws.

📈 Five, six or seven pieces

Our three raised puzzles make a ladder: the frog has five pieces, the lion six and the giraffe seven. This giraffe has seven. Start with the frog, move on when it is easy, and each new animal adds just one more piece to work out.
