Round Silicone Suction Bowl with Lid β€” cornerless sections, and a lid

One 300ml section and two 100ml sections, 500ml in total, with an airtight lid and a suction base that grips a smooth tray. 21cm across including the side handles, 17cm deep, 5.5cm tall, 250g. Food-grade platinum silicone, three colours, suitable from 6 months. It is the only bowl we sell that combines cornerless sections with a lid, and if you want one bowl to do everything, this is the one we would point you at.

πŸ”„ Round, which is the shape a self-feeding baby wants

A corner is where food goes to hide from a spoon. Round sections have no corner, so a baby pushing a spoon round the edge collects what is actually there instead of leaving a stubborn triangle of porridge behind. At 5.5cm tall it is shallow enough for them to see in and aim, too. Those two things together are what make the round bowls the self-feeding choice rather than the ones you feed from.

Add the lid and you have the combination: the shape a child learning to feed themselves finds easiest, in a dish you can also seal and put in the fridge. Our square lidded bowl is the same capacity with the same lid, and it trades the cornerless sections for a smaller footprint and the ability to stack.

πŸ₯‘ What the lid actually buys you

One dish instead of three. Portion a meal into it, lid on, into the fridge or freezer; it travels to nursery in a bag without leaking; then the lid comes off and the same bowl suctions to the tray and gets eaten from. No decanting, no second container to wash.

If you only ever feed at home and already own containers, the lid is weight and a little more money for something you will leave in a drawer β€” the same bowl without a lid is the sensible buy in that case. We would rather say so than sell you the lid twice.

πŸ“ The honest cost: footprint and stacking

At 21 x 17cm this is the biggest footprint of our six bowls, which can overhang a narrow high chair tray and give a toddler an edge to get a hand under. Round bowls also do not stack β€” they sit in isolation with wasted space around them, where two square ones sit neatly on top of each other on a fridge shelf.

So if your tray is small or your fridge is full, the square lidded bowl at 18.5 x 15cm is the better buy. Measure before you choose. At 250g this is also the heaviest of the divided bowls, which helps it stay put but makes it the least pocketable.

🍽️ One main, two sides, genuinely separate

300ml for the substantial part and 100ml each for a vegetable and something soft to scoop with β€” 500ml in total, more than any of our single-section bowls holds. The dividers keep foods actually apart rather than notionally so, which matters to a toddler with strong views about things touching. As on every divided bowl, the sections are open at the top, so a thin sauce will migrate between them if the bowl is tilted.

🧲 The suction, and what it will and won't do

The base grips a smooth, flat, dry surface and takes the shove and the sideways swipe. Wipe both the tray and the base first β€” a wet seal is a weak seal β€” and press down from the middle outwards. It will not hold on a ridged or textured tray, or on bare wood with a grain, and no suction base will. A determined toddler who gets a thumb under the rim wins eventually, usually from around eighteen months. The side handles are for you rather than them: lifting a full bowl off a tray without tipping it down your arm.

♨️ Oven, microwave, freezer, dishwasher β€” the whole range

Every silicone plate and bowl we sell is marked oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe. That means you can bake a small portion in it, cool it, freeze it, warm it and serve it from the same dish, and silicone takes the whole range without warping or clouding.

Take the lid off for the oven and the microwave β€” a sealed lid traps steam and pressure, and that is true of any airtight container.

πŸ”¬ What we have actually had tested

Our silicone plates and bowls were tested as finished products to EN 14372:2004, the European standard written specifically for children's feeding utensils, across 15 samples covering 13 colours β€” migration of elements, phthalate content, volatile compounds, formaldehyde release and bisphenol A release, with nothing detected.

A bowl from the range was separately tested by Eurofins against LFGB Sections 30 and 31, the German food-contact standard and among the strictest anywhere. It passed overall migration, peroxide value and volatile organic matter testing, bisphenol A was not detected, and a sensory panel confirmed no perceptible odour or taste passing into food. Every plate and bowl we sell is the same food-grade platinum silicone from the same supplier.

We publish the reports on our silicone information page rather than asking you to take our word for it.

What we like about it

  • The only bowl we sell with cornerless sections and a lid together
  • Round sections with no corners, so a spoon collects instead of missing
  • Shallow at 5.5cm, so a baby can see what they are aiming at
  • 500ml across 300/100/100ml β€” a main and two proper sides
  • Airtight lid for the fridge, the freezer and the nursery bag
  • Oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe, like all our plates and bowls
  • 250g, the heaviest of the divided bowls, so it has weight to stay put
  • Tested as a finished product to EN 14372, with the reports published

❓ Frequently asked questions

If I only buy one bowl, should it be this one?
Probably. It holds the most, it has the lid, and the cornerless sections are the shape a self-feeding baby finds easiest β€” so it covers more situations than any of the other five. The reasons to choose differently are a narrow high chair tray or a full fridge, where the square lidded bowl wins on footprint and stacking, or wet spoon-led meals, where the deep single bowl and its scoop wall are better.

Round or square, with the lid on?
Round has no corners for food to hide in, which suits a child scooping unaided. Square stacks and fits a narrow tray. Both hold the same 500ml, both have the same lid, and both go in the oven β€” so it really is shape against storage.

Can the lid go in the oven or microwave?
No β€” take it off for both. The bowl itself takes the oven, the microwave, the freezer and the dishwasher.

Is the lid genuinely leak-proof in a bag?
For normal food, yes β€” it seals round the whole rim. We would still not fill it to the brim with soup and lay it on its side in a changing bag. Airtight for storage and travel, rather than a sealed flask.

Do I actually need the lid?
If you batch cook or send food to nursery, it earns its keep every week. If you only feed at home and already have containers, the same bowl without a lid is the sensible buy.

Will it stain?
Silicone can pick up light colour from tomato, turmeric and beetroot. A soak in warm water with a little bicarbonate of soda lifts it.

🍲 Which bowl is right?

Six bowls. All of them are oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe, so the honest split is depth, divisions, shape and whether you need a lid:

  • Round, 3 compartments, with lid β€” this one. 500ml across 300/100/100ml, 21 x 17cm, 250g. Cornerless sections plus a lid. The one-bowl choice.
  • Square, 3 compartments, with lid β€” the same capacity and lid in 18.5 x 15cm. Smaller footprint, and it stacks flat.
  • Round, 3 compartments β€” this bowl without the lid, 229g.
  • Square, 3 compartments β€” square, no lid, 219g, the lightest divided one. Straight sides to load a spoon against.
  • Silicone Suction Baby Bowl β€” 350ml in one section, 8.5cm tall, the deepest, with a raised scoop wall. For porridge, soup and spoon-led meals. Gift boxed.
  • Bear Suction Bowl β€” 400ml, one section, bear-shaped. The one a reluctant eater will sit down for. Gift boxed.

See them all in our silicone baby bowls collection, or pair one with a silicone plate and a bib. Our complete guide to baby suction plates and bowls covers what to look for.

Safety information

Adult supervision recommended at mealtimes. Keep the lid away from a baby when it is not on the bowl. Check the bowl and the suction base before each use and stop using it if the silicone splits, tears or the base comes away. Let oven-warmed food stand before serving.
