Square Silicone Suction Bowl with 3 Compartments β€” the one that stacks flat and fits a narrow tray

One 300ml section and two 100ml sections, 500ml in total, on a suction base that grips a smooth tray. 18.5cm across including the side handles, 15cm deep, 5.5cm tall, 219g. Food-grade platinum silicone, three colours, suitable from 6 months.

πŸ“ Square earns its place on two measurements

The first is footprint. At 18.5 x 15cm this is the smallest of our divided bowls β€” our round three-section bowl is 21 x 17cm, and on a narrow high chair tray that difference is the one between sitting flush and hanging over an edge where a toddler can get a hand under it. Measure your tray before you choose.

The second is the fridge. A square bowl stacks on top of another square bowl. A round one does not, it just takes up a circle's worth of shelf with wasted corners around it. If you batch cook on a Sunday, that matters more than it sounds like it should.

πŸ₯„ Straight sides, and the honest trade against them

A straight wall gives a baby something to push a spoonful up against, which is how a lot of children load a spoon before they can scoop properly. Some find that noticeably easier than a curved edge.

The trade is corners. Food hides in a corner, and a spoon travelling round the edge of a square section leaves a stubborn little triangle of porridge behind. Round sections have nowhere for it to go. There is no right answer here β€” it is worth knowing which way your child works before you pick, and if they are scooping unaided already the round one is the kinder shape.

🍽️ One main, two sides, genuinely separate

300ml for the substantial part and 100ml each for a vegetable and something soft, which is 500ml in total β€” more than any of our single-section bowls holds. The dividers are deep enough to keep foods actually apart rather than notionally so, which matters a great deal to a toddler with strong views about things touching. As on every divided bowl, the sections are open at the top, so a thin sauce will migrate between them if the bowl is tilted.

🧲 The suction, and what it will and won't do

The base grips a smooth, flat, dry surface and takes the shove and the sideways swipe. Wipe both the tray and the base first β€” a wet seal is a weak seal β€” and press down from the middle outwards. It will not hold on a ridged or textured tray, or on bare wood with a grain, and no suction bowl will. A determined toddler who gets a thumb under the rim wins eventually, usually from around eighteen months. The side handles are there for you rather than them: lifting a full bowl off a tray without tipping it down your arm.

♨️ Oven, microwave, freezer, dishwasher β€” the whole range

Every silicone plate and bowl we sell is marked oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe. Bake a small portion in it, cool it, freeze it, warm it, serve from it, wash it β€” one dish does the whole cycle instead of three different containers, and silicone takes all of it without warping or clouding. The non-porous surface holds no smell.

πŸ”¬ What we have actually had tested

Our silicone plates and bowls were tested as finished products to EN 14372:2004, the European standard written specifically for children's feeding utensils, across 15 samples covering 13 colours β€” migration of elements, phthalate content, volatile compounds, formaldehyde release and bisphenol A release, with nothing detected.

A bowl from the range was separately tested by Eurofins against LFGB Sections 30 and 31, the German food-contact standard and among the strictest anywhere. It passed overall migration, peroxide value and volatile organic matter testing, bisphenol A was not detected, and a sensory panel confirmed no perceptible odour or taste passing into food. Every plate and bowl we sell is the same food-grade platinum silicone from the same supplier.

We publish the reports on our silicone information page rather than asking you to take our word for it.

What we like about it

  • The smallest footprint of our divided bowls at 18.5 x 15cm, so it fits a narrow tray
  • Stacks flat in the fridge and the cupboard, which a round bowl cannot
  • Straight sides to load a spoon against
  • 500ml across 300/100/100ml β€” a main and two proper sides
  • The lightest divided bowl at 219g, so it is easy to carry when full
  • Oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe, like all our plates and bowls
  • Side handles for lifting a full bowl without tipping it
  • Tested as a finished product to EN 14372, with the reports published

❓ Frequently asked questions

Square or round β€” which should I buy?
Square if your high chair tray is narrow, if you stack meals in the fridge, or if your child loads a spoon by pushing it against a wall. Round if they are scooping unaided, because corners are where food hides from a spoon. Same 500ml either way, and both go in the oven, so it really is about shape rather than specification.

Will runny food stay in its section?
Mostly, while the bowl is sitting flat. The sections are open at the top, as on every divided bowl, so a thin sauce will find its way between them if the bowl is tilted or carried at an angle.

Does it come with a lid?
Not this one. The square bowl with a lid is the same bowl plus an airtight lid, for leftovers, nursery runs and the changing bag.

Can it go in the oven?
Yes β€” oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher, like every plate and bowl we sell. Let oven-warmed food stand before serving.

Why won't the suction stick?
It needs a smooth, flat, dry surface. Wipe the tray and the base and press down from the middle out. A ridged or textured tray, or bare wood with a grain, will not hold any suction bowl.

Will it stain?
Silicone can pick up light colour from tomato, turmeric and beetroot. A soak in warm water with a little bicarbonate of soda lifts it.

🍲 Which bowl is right?

Six bowls. All of them are oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe, so the honest split is depth, divisions, shape and whether you need a lid:

  • Square, 3 compartments β€” this one. 500ml across 300/100/100ml in 18.5 x 15cm and 219g. The smallest footprint, and it stacks flat.
  • Round, 3 compartments β€” the same 300/100/100ml in 21 x 17cm, shallow and round so a spoon reaches in from any angle. The self-feeding choice.
  • Square, 3 compartments, with lid β€” this bowl plus an airtight lid. The one for batch cooking and nursery runs.
  • Round, 3 compartments, with lid β€” the round one plus an airtight lid. Cornerless sections and a lid together.
  • Silicone Suction Baby Bowl β€” 350ml in one section, 8.5cm tall, the deepest, with a raised scoop wall. For porridge, soup and spoon-led meals. Gift boxed.
  • Bear Suction Bowl β€” 400ml, one section, bear-shaped. The one a reluctant eater will sit down for. Gift boxed.

Safety information

Adult supervision recommended at mealtimes. Check the bowl and the suction base before each use and stop using it if the silicone splits, tears or the base comes away. Let oven-warmed food stand before serving.
