Brand: For the Baby
Half the weight of the rest of our range — and the one that actually leaves the house
🎒 Light enough to carry without thinking about it
At 153g this plate weighs barely more than a large apple, and a good 75g less than the next-lightest plate we sell. That sounds like a small thing until you're packing a changing bag that's already full. Nursery, a day at the grandparents', a café whose high chairs have seen better days — this is the one that goes with you.
🍽️ One main and two tasters
Three sections holding 250ml, 120ml and 120ml — around 490ml in total, which is deliberately less than the rest of our plates. It's sized for a six-month-old's real appetite rather than a toddler's: a proper main portion, and two small piles of something they haven't met before.
🧼 No shape to work around
No ears, no tail, nothing to navigate when you're loading the dishwasher at ten past seven in the morning. Food-grade platinum silicone throughout.
♨️ Oven, microwave, freezer, dishwasher
Every silicone plate and bowl we sell is marked oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe. That is more useful than it sounds: you can bake a small portion in it, cool it, freeze it, warm it and serve it from the same plate, and silicone takes the whole range without warping or clouding. Let oven-warmed food stand before serving.
⚠️ Worth knowing before you buy
- The lightness cuts both ways. Less silicone means less heft, so of our five plates this is the easiest to shift once a determined toddler gets under the edge. On a high chair tray it's perfectly stable; on an open dining table, the heavier hamburger plate holds its ground better.
- The suction base grips best on smooth, non-porous surfaces — glass, sealed high chair trays, laminate and plastic. On bare or textured wood it will still hold, just not as firmly, so it's worth knowing what your high chair is made of.
- 490ml total is the smallest capacity in our range. If your little one is already eating toddler portions, one of our 650ml plates will serve you better.
🔬 What we have actually had tested
Our silicone plates and bowls were tested as finished products to EN 14372:2004, the European standard written specifically for children's feeding utensils, across 15 samples covering 13 colours — migration of elements, phthalate content, volatile compounds, formaldehyde release and bisphenol A release, with nothing detected.
A bowl from the range was separately tested by Eurofins against LFGB Sections 30 and 31, the German food-contact standard and among the strictest anywhere. It passed overall migration, peroxide value and volatile organic matter testing, bisphenol A was not detected, and a sensory panel confirmed no perceptible odour or taste passing into food. Every plate and bowl we sell is the same food-grade platinum silicone from the same supplier.
We publish the reports on our silicone information page rather than asking you to take our word for it.

Questions we get asked
Is it big enough?
For a baby starting out, comfortably. The 250ml main section takes a full first-foods portion. For a hungry one-year-old, look at our 650ml plates instead.
Can it really go in the oven?
Yes — oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher, and the same is true of every plate and bowl in our silicone range.
Will it survive the dishwasher long-term?
Yes — platinum silicone doesn't degrade the way cheaper silicone can. Top rack is gentlest, but it will take a bottom-rack run without complaint.
Has the plate itself been LFGB tested, or just a bowl?
A bowl from the range was the item Eurofins tested to LFGB. We say that plainly rather than implying every piece went through it separately. Every plate and bowl we sell is the same food-grade platinum silicone from the same supplier, and the plates were tested as finished products to EN 14372 in their own right.
Which plate is for you?
- Narrow high chair tray, or a baby who tests everything? The Hamburger Silicone Baby Plate is our heaviest and most compact — the most food and the firmest grip in the least space.
- Spreading finger foods out? The Squirrel Silicone Baby Plate is 25cm wide, so nothing gets heaped.
- Want full capacity without the weight? The Elephant Silicone Baby Plate holds 650ml in a 19cm square at 228g.
- Two proper sides rather than a taster? The Dinosaur Silicone Baby Plate runs 250 / 200 / 200ml on a roomier plate.
