Baby Shower Gifts

Been handed a baby shower invite and absolutely no idea what to buy? You are in very good company. Everyone else is standing in the same aisle, holding the same tiny cardigan, wondering whether the parents-to-be already own eleven of them. (They do.)

This is our edit of eco friendly baby shower gifts that get used rather than re-gifted. Every one is chosen from the things new parents reach for daily — the suction bowl that survives the launch off the highchair, the comforter that becomes The Chosen One, the soft book that lives in the bottom of the changing bag. All made from safe, natural materials like food-grade silicone, wood, bamboo and organic cotton, because babies put absolutely everything in their mouths.

Baby shower gift ideas for every budget

Whether you are the grandparent going big or the colleague chipping in a fiver, there is something here. Little new baby gifts like teethers, rattles and bibs are perfect for adding to a hamper or slipping in alongside a card. In the middle you will find our bestselling weaning plates, fabric books and comforters. And if you want one lovely thing that makes an impression, our newborn gift sets and organic rattle-and-comforter sets arrive beautifully boxed with no wrapping required.

Why these make good gifts for a baby shower

  • Genuinely useful — weaning sets, bibs and cups the parents will need within months
  • Safe materials — food-grade silicone, wood, bamboo and organic cotton, all free from BPA, phthalates and nasties
  • Suitable from birth — plenty of options that work from day one, and others that grow with baby
  • Not another sleepsuit — the highest compliment any baby gift can receive

The one rule worth following

Buy for six months' time, not for the newborn stage. Everyone at the shower will bring 0–3 month clothes and nobody will bring anything for the day solids start — which is precisely when the parents run out of ideas. A weaning set or a stacking toy lands exactly when it's needed.

Still stuck? Have a read of our guide to choosing the best baby shower gifts — it walks you through what to buy for every budget, what new parents secretly wish people would stop buying, and how to pick something that lasts longer than the first month.
